I hope you find a love much sweeter than ours, a gentle one that allows you to peacefully fall asleep at night. Ours was once one for the story books, until it wasn’t. Until I began panicking over every minuscule detail. Until you shut me out. Love is caring enough about someone to not be an enabler.
Love is setting boundaries.
Love is respecting yourself as much as you respect the other person.
I hate the “love is giving yourself unconditionally to someone” idea.
I won’t support the ones I love doing things that hurt themselves or others.
Love is not a person.
Love is a mutual understanding, respect, and friendship.
And I think that’s where the magic is. Not in just being someone’s cheerleader, but in helping them navigate the good and the bad.
